Five Ways to Power Your Open Day Campaigns with TAP

Open Day season is an exciting time on campus. It’s a chance to show off your university, meet future students face-to-face, and bring your brand to life. Student ambassadors play a central role in these experiences, helping to build trust and provide the all-important student voice. While Open Day offers a powerful first impression, lasting engagement comes from what follows.

At The Ambassador Platform (TAP), we believe peer to peer connection shouldn’t be limited to the campus grounds.

We take the value of authentic student stories and bring them into the digital space, where today’s school leavers are already spending their time. Here are a few smart ways you can maximise the impact of your Open Day using TAP, long after the campus visit has ended.

đŸ“± 1. QR Codes That Extend the Conversation

Make it easy for prospective students to stay connected long after Open Day by adding TAP QR codes to:

  • Course brochures
  • Pull up banners
  • Event flyers

These QR codes can link directly to your TAP community â€œChat with other future students” or to specific student ambassadors â€œChat with our current Business students”, so your prospective students can scan, connect, and keep the conversation going in a space that feels personal and approachable.

🎓 2. Connect with Ambassadors on the Ground

Your student ambassadors are already a highlight of the day for your future students. Letting that connection end on campus would be a missed opportunities for all parties.

Equip ambassadors with QR codes on the back of their lanyards or name tags. After a tour or conversation, they can just say:

â€œWant to keep in touch? Scan the code on the back of my lanyard, so you can chat with me after today.”

This creates a smooth transition from in-person to online, letting ambassadors continue the conversation after the event in a format prospects can trust.

💬 3. Invite Students into a School Leaver or Parent Community Space

Open Day is primarily targeted at school leavers, so why not invite them into a safe space specifically made for them? Create a School Leavers Community on TAP where, Year 10, 11 and 12 students can:

  • Ask questions to current students Chat with each other about courses, campus life, accommodation and more
  • Join group chats focused on key topics (for example, making friends, Open Day prep, application tips)
  • RSVP to upcoming webinars, live streams or follow up events

And you can also replicate this for a space for Parents, so they can feel more confident and informed about their teen's study decision. These spaces can be alive and active before and after the Open Day.

đŸ“Č 4. Get the App on Their Phones

When your prospects scan the QR codes to speak to your ambassadors, they will be prompted to download our brand new TAP Future Students.

Encouraging your future students to download the app during Open Day means:

  • They have a direct, university branded app on their phones that looks and feel familiar.
  • You unlock a new direct communication channel, right alongside their favourite social apps
  • Students can message ambassadors, browse content, and even meet peers before they step on campus

It’s a modern, mobile-first way to nurture relationships and build a sense of belonging early.

📈 5. Track and Nurture After the Event

TAP is more than just connecting leads. It’s a way to build relationships, and keep your future students engaged throughout their journey. And you have full visibility on what this looks like.

Post Open Day, you can access reporting such as:

  • Number of TAP sign ups on the day
  • Which group chats are most active
  • Conversation topics reporting
  • Ongoing engagement from prospective students
  • Nurture performance through the app, including chat interactions and webinar invites
  • What’s moving the needle on enrollments

This opens up a brand new channel of communication beyond career advisors, email marketing or phone follow ups that is peer led, digital-first, and built for Gen Z.

In Summary

Open Day might last for one day, but with TAP, your peer to peer engagement can carry on for weeks and months to come. If you're looking to make your Open Day campaign stick, create a real sense of belonging, and build a school leaver community that lasts, now is the time to make TAP part of your Open Day toolkit.
